The spring showers are here, which is always an indication that true summer is just around the corner. Kids (and teachers) are counting the days till school is out. Families are house hunting in earnest to get moved before school starts again. Lakefront homes are becoming all abuzz with weekend water activity.
It’s the time of year that brings us Memorial Day – a time to reflect on the advantages of living in the freedoms of the United States. It’s a time to be thankful for and pray for our troops here and abroad.
It’s a time for flying the flag, gathering with friends and family and a time to enjoy our homes. You still have enough time to get a new flag for your home before Memorial Day Weekend.
The next major event in downtown Sebring is the Heartland Triathlon on June 20, 2015. Want more details? Look Here It’s held each year in downtown Sebring – with the swimming portion in Lake Jackson, running and bicycling on Lakeview Dr.
For indoors fun, there are some excellent exhibits and classes at the Highlands Art League in downtown Sebring. There is currently a photography contest in progress. Downtown Sebring, sponsored by the CRA is hosting an Outdoor Sculpture Competition. Come see them all, then vote for your favorite online.
The Caladium Co-op in Lake Placid also hosts some great classes. Lake Placid is gearing up for the annual Caladium Arts and Crafts Festival that traditionally brings up to 20,000 people over the 3-day event.
The Highlands Little Theater will be presenting Les Miserables in July.
